Looking for a way to stabilize my truck from being so top heavy, has nothing more than a 12" lift with 38" tires. Ive done some research but come up empty handed.. any ideas?

 

Lower it down some. Do you have sway bars?

 

I actually wanted to get it higher with maybe some 44" tires, no i don't have sway bars im assuming it doesn't have power steering either. I'm currently in the army and had my buddy go buy this truck for me cause i wanted to have it mud ready by the time i get home and where we go you go 40's on nothin.
I did see something about traction bars not sure what that relates to or what it would do for me, maybe elaborate on that for me.

 

It's only going to get more top heavy if you go higher and/or add even larger tires. Higher the center of gravity, more top heavy feeling. That's just how it works

 

Also what is your definition of "mud ready"? Local back roads to power lines to competition?
What is your experience in mud trucks?

 

I know about the high center of gravity but there has to be a way that it can still be driven on the road and off road w/o tipping over, I'm used to 44" tires when I've had them it was on a fullsize truck but my buddy's have put that size on their toyota's but they cut fenders and what not I don't want to do any cutting just lifting possably a 302 swap. My last toyota was a 91 with a 4" suspension with 3" body and 33" tires it just never did it for me.

 

Cut the fenders and keep it low. If you understand center of gravity that's it.
Ditch the Toyota axles and jump to 1 tons or rockwells to add weight low down and it will lower your overall center of gravity. Then you need a drivetrain to keep up, which then adds weight up top, unless you putt around with the stock 4 cylinder.

 

Full size axles would increase your track width and make it more stable.

and you're going to have to upgrade anyway with those size tires and a possible V8 swap.

why yes, yes it is. i have exhausted my resources on the internet unless im looking in the wrong places or have seen it already.

 

Swap complete drivetrain, larger more powerful engine, Dana 60 axles or bigger, rockwells would be nice. Full custom suspension. Unless the 44's are for just looks, if they are just stick them on if they fit.

 

to comfortably run 44s off road Jason nailed it. You'll be changing every part of your truck except the interior, whats left of the body after cutting it and the frame (but you'll be doing some major mods to that to make everything else fit)

I recommend going over to pirate 4x4. they're a bit more "hardcore" over there compared to this bunch. 40" tires are common place on pirate. But be warned If you ask a silly question like "what do I need to run 44's on my toyota" they'll rip you a new one and send you home crying to mama.
