85 fuel pump

Just rebuilt an 85 4x4 pickup. It has an electric fuel pump, mounted in the tank. When I turn on the key, it doen't come on. I checked the voltage at the plug and got 9.5 volts. I can run the pump from the battery, with hot wires. Any idea why I'm not getting the correct voltage to the fuel pump?

Thanks

85 Fuel Pump

Checked that first. If the fuse was blown, you wouldn't get no voltage to the pump, I wouldn't think.

Check out Roger Brown's website at www.4crawler.com

He has a lot of info on 1st gens there and the fuel pumps are notoriously a PITA sometimes.

Keep us updated as to what you find out.
