I have an 85 4runner sr5 with the sas and 22re stock. I bough this not to long ago and have had a problem with downshifting into second and first ( pops out and grinds) At first I thought I had bad syncros, but upon further inspection i found my er was able to twist when pulled to the left. This was cause by my pins in the shifter ball having to much play. I need to rebuild/replace my shifter but it isn't stock. My shifter is a good three to 5 inched longer that my 89 with the 22re and somone cut the floor to allow the shifters to be moved forward a good 4 inches. Also the shifter plate is Shapped like an I with only four bolts rather than the six bolts in my 89 trans. I have no clue as to what trans and tranfer case I have. They appear to be mounted in the stock mounts but the shifters are moved forward. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
