I used a throttle cable from a '93 4Runner. Bolts right in. So there are several years that will interchange various parts.

What year is your truck? Is it carburated?

It's an '84. It was carb'd. It's not anymore. The difference was that the 4runner cable assembly is longer. But the ends and mounting were the same.

when they are to long does it still work? I cannot find a 21 inch cable for the life of me and the longer cable is all over the place almost a foot longer and does not mount up to my plate correctly. I need my truck to run and the piece of bailing wire i used just doesnt cut it when the whole engine is rebuilt and the vehicle runs and drives great I cannot let myself go another day running it like that worrying that at any moment it is going to give out. please help!!

I found a 26" cable on rock auto for an '83 yota. Don't know if that will work but I know that the 83's were carbed.

The only thing that matters is the length from the end of the cable itself and the cable housing/sleeve. As long as it's the same, or very close to your original, it should work fine, even if it's longer overall.

got it

i actually got lucky and reused the cable housing and had a friend that works at a bicycle chop re run the cable with an adjustable stop so i could figure out exactly the length that i needed. turns out it was only 6 dollars worth of shifting cable and the nut to get the ting running again.
