'84 Pick-Up AutoZone Exhaust Manifold?
hey guys, i been trying to find a good deal on a exhaust manifold for my pickup, but i cant seem to find one NEW that fits my truck. the only one i can find that fits, and seems relatively inexpensive, is the ATP/AutoZone one (not sure if im allowed to link the site, so i wont), but im not sure about the quality of it.
Has anybody used them, or have any experience with them? i want to get my truck running already, its been sitting too long, so i may just spend the $100 bucks and try, it comes with all the hardware and gaskets..

When was your 84 made? Or if you've got it apart is the exhaust port round or pear shaped? If its got the round ports your stuck with atp for a manifold but for 130 you can get a obx header. If its pear shaped just put a 85-95 manifold on it or the $150 obx header

well I'm not too sure. Its still assembled, but looks like it has round ports. It actually doesn't have the stock manifold, they're headers. The problem(I think) is that the previous owner had an o2 sensor welded on, but in the wrong location (too high if I recall correctly). This is the reason I'm in the process of "fixing" the truck. It runs perfectly fine, it just won't pass the smog check. If I knew the exact position the o2 sensor SHOULD be at, I would probably go that route, if it would make it pass

Am I better off buying the autozone manifold and replacing it, or getting a muffler shop to reposition the sensor ?

Now that i think of it, i believe the header eliminated the cat, which is why its failing emissions. I sure would like to keep the header, but I'm trying to get my registration so I need to pass a smog check, which its failing. I could always put it back on once I get nny it to pass.

That looks like a ceramic coated header. Rock Ripper puts the O2 sensor right there, but it looks a little different. Does anybody recognize that header (brand) ?
There should be a flange connection under the driver's seat area where you can put in a catalytic converter. On my LCE header, there was a short extension pipe from the collector to the cat. The rest of the system connected behind the cat.
If the flange is there, you might be able to patch in the cat, and have a muffler shop tie in the rest of the system if it is serviceable....based on the shape of that header (good), I'd guess the rest of the system is OK?
