Are you tired of driving down the road with the DIM factory headlights.
you know the ones that im talking about.
The old style Halogens, that emit a yellow, darkish color light.

If you are, you are in luck with the HEADLIGHT CONVERSION.
With this set up, you will go from the sealed glass lights to a nice set up.
It will have the replacement Headlight housing that is a durable plastic.
The bulb is switched to a H4 style bulb that is replaceable.
There is 2 different style bulbs that you can go with.
You can go with the regular H4 Halogen style bulb, this is going to be a little bright than what you have now.
Or you can upgrade that to the Vision X H4 bulb, this bulb is a step down from a HID..

With this your night driving problems are solved.
Less strain on your eyes as you are driving down some old 2 lane highway in the middle of nowhere. Or if you are like the guys here at LC, Some old dirt road or up in the mountains..

Sure is a crime if they don't cause I like my rectangle headlights!

 

Yes this head light kit will pop right in the place of yours.
You should have no problems with the fitment on it.
We just put some on a truck here in town.
And we ran into no problems at all.

 

you guys should offer a toyota-specific replacement headlight harness to go along with this... one of those units that switches power directly from the battery/charging circuit(??), instead of sending all the juice through the headlight switch on the steering column.

 

With what you are saying, are you trying to hook the lights up to its own little Toggle Switch?
With these kits it is not going to put more amperage through the factory wiring, it will not cause any more stress.

And as for the harness, as of right now we don't deal with any of the harness's, but there is a company out there that I know about that might be able to get them.

i believe that it's a solid state transistor switch, with wiring, pretty reasonably priced... there is a company that makes a generic type of harness, with the transistor switch in it, that people adapt, but when i looked at this a few years ago, there weren't any specific solutions for our trucks.

I picked up this similar Hella kit and a relay/wiring harness from 4Crawler (made in China) a few years ago and I've been satisfied with it.

Roger Brown wrote some info about the factory light circuits on his 4Crawler site. I had the same problem in my 88 4Runner light switch, I'd change to brights and the lights would go black until I changed again on occasion. I disassembled the switch mechanism and my switch contacts were pitted partly from age and partly from the power going through the contacts. Reducing power through the switch with a relay circuit is advisable, especially if upgrading headlights.

The difference between this lkind of lights and the sealed beams is night and day.... before was like driving by candle light, after is like driving with a lighthouse lamp on the front of the vehicle.

You're talking about the conversion harness? No need to be Toyota -specific. It will adapt to most any brand model with switched ground control similar to Toyota headlight circuit.

Yes, the conversion harness will route power directly from battery to its relay to headlight bulbs, then to fender ground near battery; over a couple of feet of thick wire, instead of the 15 or so feet of thin wire through the dimmer-combo switch of the stock circuit.

The amount of voltage drop (= power turned to heat in wire instead of light) you eliminate is dramatic
