I got an 32/36 NIB the other day and just installed it onto an LCE Offy dual plane manifold.
When I initially took the weber out of the box, I noticed that the throw of the throttle linkage was less than that of the stock carb on the 22r. It seems to be about 60-75% travel of throw compared to the stock carb.
When installed on the truck, it runs fine, just idles at 2200 rpm. I check to see if the fast idle lobe was being activated on the choke and nothing is touching or biding. I checked for vacuum leaks all around with brake cleaner and no results of increased rpm.
The idle adjustment screw has to be screwed in what seams way too far in till it even touches the throttle linkage. It seems that something is internally holding up the primary throttle valve. This is constantly open even with the adjustment screw screwed all the way out and no where near touching. In the attached pictures, the one of the adjustment screw is showing how far the screw must be turned in for it to just barely start touching the throttle linkage.
I am at a loss as to what is going on and how to fix it. I dont really want to take it apart without knowing what to look for problem wise. Mainly since this was a brand new carb in the mail. Also the chip that is above the secondary valve is how it came out of the box as well. But it doesnt seem to cause a leak since that what the first place I sprayed brake cleaner.
With the screw backed out past no contact with the linkage, both butterflys should be completely closed and seated pretty tightly. Try backing the idle screw "out of the way" and try to find what's binding and not allowing the butterfly to not close all the way.
If the valve/throttle blade itself is the binding in the barrel, loosen the 2 screws and let it "self center" in the barrel and re tighten.
