4runner dash removal/light replacement help

i want to replace my lights in my dash/cluster i have no heater lights. how do i get get the heater faceplate off to put in new lights. tried this with my old 4runner but no luck i un bolted ever screw i could find but it wouldnt bugde???? and also i kinda want to get some red or amber lights but know nothing about them except 168 is stock. what kind should i get?

To replace the light in the heater control you have to almost remove the complete dash to get to the light, it snaps into the back of the heater control. Its not as hard as it looks, but its very time consuming and you have to know were the hidden bolts are that need to be removed. Ive replaced heater cores in two 86 4Runners so im speaking from experiance.

i just pulled my face plate off my heater control and the light was right there.

x3 on that. Took me about ten minutes to replace them. The green "condomns" (for lack of a better word) that cover the light were dryrotted, but I found orange lights at the parts store. I thought it looked better. Does not require taking the dash apart.

i think ill take a picture of my lights tonight it looks pretty good. especially for just red nail polish..
