22re stalling out

I start my engine and it starts foir a second and then dies. It just started happening earlier today. The only way I have been able to fix it is when I crank it over and it starts I romp on the gas and hold the gas down for a little while. After I release the gas, after about a minute or so, it idles real low but doesn't die on me. I recently replaced all my vacuum lines with new silicone hose. Could the problem be somewhere in the vacuum lines or something else? Please help me!

If you're holding down the gas pedal to get it cranked, does it eventually or quickly start to rev like normal? Meaning, does it bog and sputter and eventually start to climb in RPMs, or does it rev as soon as it starts up?

You could have a vacuum line improperly routed, you could have an internally leaking carb causing it to flood out. You could just need some new sparkin' plugs and ignition components...

No, I don't hold down the gas pedal to crank it up. I do, however hold the gas pedal down to stop the engine from stalling as soon as I get it started up though. New spark plugs, rotor, cap, and wires are on the way. As well as a new fuel filter. They will all be here in a couple of days, so hopefully I can bypass this problem till then.

Oh, I apologize, I mis-read your post. Maybe check the vacuum hose going to the EGR valve. It should not have vacuum on it at idle. If it does, then your routing may be wrong. I had to just pull my EGR valve vacuum hose off because someone prior to me effed up my vacuum routing, and since I dont have emissions worries, I dont care. It idles a little high(1100rpm), but runs like a top and gets 22mpg.

It doesn't sputter at all. It just starts up and automatically dies. Hencei is why as soon as I get it started I press on the gas. That's the best way I can explain it. I'm definitely no tech or anything, so I'm sorry if this doesn't explain my situation enough.

Geez, I am all kinds of retarded tonight, I see its a 22RE, not carbed....

That ups the ante a little. If it ran perfectly before the hose replacement, more than likely there is a hose going somewhere it shouldnt... Or not a hose where there should be... You might try and see if any of the new hoses possibly got manufactured wrong and is collapsed internally?
