Completely new to the whole Forum stuff.. But I have been spending quite a bit of time looking around here for some good answers and thought that I would contribute to the huge amount of invaluable information on here.
The answer to my problem is something that has not yet been figured out...

I have a 1985 4runner 5 Speed with the 22re.

I cannot for the life of me figure out the issue on my 22re. It has been a great little engine but it runs like garbage around the low rpms when it warms up. sounds like one cylinder is missing every other time, and the rest are just firing whenever they feel like it. Frustrating to say the least. I have replaced the TPS adjusted it using 4crawlers resistance sheet... Completely removed my intake plenum and spend 2.5 hours at a parts cleaner cleaning it and the TB.... Changed plugs, wires, cap, rotor.... Timing is set at 12' but anything less and it runs way worse and makes the exhaust mani glow red...

Spent a ton of time looking around on here and some people have went with new injectors and they said their truck runs way better but, i am of course, like everybody who wants to play in the woods, broke! Don't want to dump money into my injectors before I know if it will fix the problem. Just looking I guess for some other things that I could check before I lose the green.

I disconnected my o2 sensor and noticed no difference. Not even a CEL...


Hate to bring this issue back up but, it is driving me crazy. Plus the timing issue bothers me, since everybody says that 5 is the most I should be doing. Don't need any holes in my pistons.
