22re efi high idle

Ok just reread the thread. When you set the timing you jumped the diagnostic ports correct?
Have you gone trough and looked for bared wires. My 85 runner had a random idle problem when I got it. Dealership told the PO it needed a new motor. I found a bared wire on the AC cooler sensor. (The one on top of the thermostats housing). That seemed to fix the problem. Gently inspect all the connections you can. Remove clean and reattach all your ground. Engine bay and cab. Put a dab of dielectric grease on each one.
Might be something as simple as off a tooth in the distributor but checking that also means the jumping the diagnostic port to check timing. It is not a carb. The FI takes a little to figure out. But this FI is one of the better ones I have experienced.
Also take a can of starter fluid and check for vacuum leaks. With the motor running spray around the intake. If you haven't already. Have you checked the bottom of the rubber hose that connect the vafm to the throttle body? Those can crack on the bottom and you won't see it time you rip it off to fix something.
Good luck keep us posted.

Sprayed carb cleaner around and found that the fuel line that bolts into the drivers side of the intake had a slight bend in it and when the carb cleaner hit the rpms would jump to 2000 and hang there. Unbolted it, put a new gasket on and a little high temp gasket maker. I wanted to bend the plate straight but was afraid of ˟˟˟˟˟ing it up because I seem to be good at that haha.Waiting on the rtv to cure and ill start it up and try again.
