22R Burning Coolant

Well I've noticed over the last little while that I've been burning coolant, I don't put many miles on seeing as how I walk to university and tend to spend 12-13 hours a day doing homework, however with the nice weather I've been out... in a day of road wheeling I lost 1/4 of my coolant reserve.

Now I have a 22R that was rebuilt 10,000km ago, and I'm blowing coolant out of my rad cap. I am thinking its back pressure causing it, I'd rather not cook my rebuilt engine, so is their something I am missing? simple way to check where its backing up? Am I right that its backing up?

Any tips?

Kirby

maybe the cap is bad, when the cap went bad on my ex's 90' celica, it would push fluid out the cap, and then when it was shut off fire boiling hot coolant out the overflow...

When the motor was rebuilt a stock toyota replacement HG was not used and it's now blown. Just a guess but that's exactly what happened to mine. PO rebuilt it and it was junk in less than 10k.
