1989 22re clicking timing chain, replacement?
Hey ya'll, just noticed an interesting clicking noise under the hood. I was thinking it could be the timing chain guides? Sounds like a pen being clicked 1,000 mi/hr. It's my first 22re so I don't know if this is normal for this pickup. It's a 1989, 22re, 104,000 miles on the clock so I guess I might as well throw a new timing kit in. Also when i'm accelerating in 1st gear, theres a grumble noise, you can hear it in the video when I accelerate on the gas a little bit.
Take a look at the video, thanks for the interest.

I adjusted my valves to specs and that changed nothing. I found a little pin hole leak in the exhaust manifold and bolt missing. You think that's causing all the ruckus?

I imagine a helicoil is your friend in this case. Remove the header and old gasket, install the helicoil, new gasket and cinch her down.

Did all of that, still rattled. Did a little more diagnosing, and I found that it's the rod bearings I guess I caught right when it was starting because it's a very quiet knock. If the rod bearings are bad, I know it's probably time for a rebuild...What do you guys think, change rod bearings now and drive it for anther few k's or start rebuilding?

Does the noise go away under acceleration, but return when coasting on the engine? That's how mine acted when it had a rod bearing go bad.
I drove cross country with it that way about 1,000 miles and it did well, but I rebuilt it right after that. No reason to drive it 'til it expodes on you.

I decided to replace the rod bearings and repare my leaky oil pan, but i can't seem to pull the differential. I have all the bolts pulled, cross member, drive shaft, mounting bolts, i just cant seem to get the bolts from the CV joint out. You can see in the picture I got the nuts off, but the nuts are still in there. How do I get them out?
