For some reason I can't seem to navigate this place to find answers I know must be here so this Toyota newbie will ask for help... I have changed many cv axles and joints through the years so know about all the headaches that can arise, Have searched and found 3 different references to replacing the cv axles in a simpler way than the book gives. All 3 claim to change an axle in 30-40 minutes without removing the hub or any ball joints, which leaves me to understand that if I remove the 6 inner hub bolts, I have straight bolts into threaded flanges so no issues there, and then remove the manual lock cover and snap ring, And keep the wheel at sitting on the ground level, that I can easily slip the inside down, slide the cv axle out and reverse to replace... If anyone has any links to a post with pics and a full description, or can take the time to post that stuff here it would be much appreciated and used asap... Need to replace these things in between 2 jobs and bad weather. Thanks in advance!
