1985 SR5 tranny problem.

My 4Runner has a strange sound coming from the tranny as I accelerate rather hard only threw first and second gear, It sounds like a squirrel cage needs oil... real squeaky noise. If I turn to the right it is louder. it is all most stock except the wheels and tires .

Thats the sound 85 4runners make right before they go tits up, might as well just sell it to me. Are you sure its the tranny, I dont see how turning could affect a transmission problem.

Good try I thought I read some whare that the shifting mec. may need adjustment. I do not know why it is louder as I turn but it is.

There was a hint from one of my friends that the bushiongs snf springs under the dash for the cluch arm may be the problem. I will spray with Silcon lube and see.

It is interesting that the sound is gone after running at high speeds. Like it needed to throw the oil up on the top of the shifting rods to quiet them down. But it is gone, It will need a clutch soon, It does not release real great.
