1985 22re sr5 4x4 tranny

my tranny keeps popping out of reverse, no idea whats going on think it the snkyros but not sure it pops out as soon as i let the clutch out, and does anybody know what kind of tranny it is. need to get it fixed or replaced.

Shifter seat and bushing is easy, you can do it yourself. If that don't work, then your only out less than $20.

i hope im not completely stupid in saying this but i thought reverse did not have synchros?

I think that is correct, no synchros in reverse. Plus synchro problems would show up when shifting into a gear while moving as a grinding issue. Once in gear, and letting out the clutch, the synchros are not a factor. X2 on the shifter seat bushing, Marlin Crawler has a heavy duty unit that I modified a bit to fit my '85 shifter:
