why does my 83 hilux have Bad compression

I over heated my motor and ended up with water in the oil, so i figured it was a blown head gasket. i took the head to the machine shop and had it cleand and inspected along with getting it milled and having the valves ground. i put the head and a new gasket on last night and today i did a compression test and #2 has only 30 psi. i took the head back off and inspected the cylinder but i couldnt see any dammage. does anyone know what is causing my leak? i figured for a leak that bad i should see a big crack in the cylinder wall but i dont.

Valve clearance too tight, hanging valve open slightly?

Did you make sure the block was completely level? Not warped at all?

Especially if you overheated, making sure both the head and block are completely level is a good thing.

Glad you got it figured out, and it was something easy & cheap!
