Please help me identify this rat eaten electrical/vaccum part on passenger fenderwell

Rodent chewed the wire on this part. Has a vacuum hose on it.

1978 Hilux 4spd m.t.
Not getting fuel to carb, but I hear "click" when I turn ignition key. Runs if I pour gas in carb.

Also, if I disconnect oil pressure switch, would the fuel pump work if it were in good shape?

Which fender is this? Take a wide angle shot so we can see where the hose goes.

Wheres your fuel pump? Is it mechanical or electric?

If you spray starter fluid to get it running will it keep running or does it shut down immediately?

Passenger side fender. Fuel pump is electrical and it's in the tank.
No need for starting fluid.
Starts right up when I put gas directly into carb; runs until gas is used up.
I think hose goes over to area under breather and a bit to the front side of it.
It's raining hard right now. I'll take another pic and send when rain slows up.

Thanks for you effort to help.

Im not a carb guy but it sounds like more than a vacuum problem if youre getting zero fuel.

My ideas
Fuel pump. Test the circuit for power. Buy a cheapie electric pump for a quick fix? If youre intank pump can act as a pass thru.

Fuel cut off solenoid. As far as i know thats the only other wiring on the carb.

If its neither of those youve probably got clogged jets. But id do everything else before i tore into the carb.
Has the truck been sitting? Was it running since youve had it?

That thing in your photo is a vacuum switch. For my 1987 Truck, that vacuum switch is used for part of the Deceleration Fuel Cut System. I am not sure if it is the same for your truck.

A vacuum switch of this type is an electrical switch that either turns on or turns off based on how much vacuum is in that vacuum line going to it.

Are you getting fuel from the tank to the carburetor inlet? This will help narrow down where the problem is.

Vaccum hose attachment. It's the topmost one.

Where vaccum hose hooks in around carb.

Thank you. I get no fuel up to fuel filter. I've unhooked fuel line on pump side of filter and engaged starter to see if something in carb was clogged to prevent flow, but still no fuel.
I'm trying to locate oil pressure switch to disconnect to see if that is preventing fuel pump from working.
Other thing is connect direct 12V to fuel pump to see if that works pump to eliminate faulty pump.
Not an electrical genius so I'm studying the black with yellow, and yellow with black wires...I'm a Ninja flyfishing guide,
but this electrical stuff is intimidating. There's so many little green connectors under this hood.

You have a fsm for tracing wires?

I noticed the dual batteries. Is this an rv?

Youre on the right path. 12v to the pump is a good way to trace the issue. Electrical stuff starts to make sense the more you mess with it. Make sure all youre contact points are clean. Even a small amount of rust can cause a dead circuit.

https://toyotaminis.com/forum/thread...problems.3887/

"The fuel pump on your 78 is an electric pump, located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank unbolts at the ends of the tank, remove the hoses, unplug the wire connector for the pump/gauge, and drop it down and out. The pump is mounted on the fuel pickup/sending unit under the round cover on the top of the tank.
The pump is wired up through a relay and also to the oil pressure sending unit, won't turn on until the engine has oil pressure.
You can unplug the oil sender wire from the engine next to the oil filter, turn the key on and the pump if good should operate, if not, you can test the wires for power to see if that might be the problem, if you don't feel like dropping the tank a universal inline electric fuel pump can be mounted preferably back by the tank, and spliced into the fuel line and your good to go, it will still draw through the old pump inside the tank. Good luck"

No fsm, but did download a wiring diagrahm from Autozone. There's nothing labeled "oil pressure switch".
And yes, it's a Toyota Hilux with a Chinook Newport micro motorhome.

Thanks. I had found and read that post on Toyotaminis. I filled out registration to join, but haven't gotten response. Looks like some active folks.
I need to where the wire coming out the top of the fuel cut device goes. The rat chewed it clean off and I can't find a loose wire dangling anywheres.
It must have been especially tasty. She's relocated to another vehicle and I discovered yesterday she's in labor. (Live trap ordered for delivery Saturday)

Hoping maybe someone has a wiring diagram that will show the route of the wire.
Thanks.

Maybe these would be helpful. I'm also having a starting issue. Good luck!
