Well this didn't get a single response in the General forum.

Where do you Weber owners get your filters from? Do you just order online? I'm down in southern Utah, and noticed my brand new Weber had its filter almost completely clogged with red sand. So on the road, is there anyone who carries Weber filters?

I was actually up in northern Utah for a couple days when I noticed that it was clogged. But I knew I'd be back down south in a few days. So I called the Napa in Moab and had them order it, then picked it up a week later.

Is this basically what I'd always need to do, or does any shop/auto store actually carry Weber air filters?

I got mine from LCE. But I don't know any part number for Fram or Purolator or anybody that will work.

 

Is there a K and N filter for the weber?

 

Big help when I'm 1,000 miles away from home.

Sounds like no.

 

I would look for an official weber distributor, wether it be napa or any auto parts, and maybe you can check ATV or snowmobile stores some are official weber distributors and maybe they can get you a filter.

But, I'm guessing this is gonna get expensive quickly, why not get the adapter and run a k&n re-usable filter? I've read that the weber filter isn't very good at filtering (don't know if it is true) you could just clean the k&n and oil it again and again.

 

Yeah that's looking like my best bet. Napa and CarQuest anyways aren't distributers.

As long as it has the same dimensions as the carb, any filter will work. I can't remember the dimensions off the top of my head, but thats how I got an emergency replacement when my weber paper filter died. I just measured the old filter and got one that was the same size. pretty common for any store that carries carb filters and even some of the larger lawn tractor filters will work in a pinch.

 

Ok, good to know. The CarQuest store measured my air filter and they had nothing in the right size. But one store isn't a very big sample size to base my conclusion off of

 

if you run the k&n filter, I would recommend putting a pre filter (from a lawn mower) over it. they look terrible but will keep tons of mud and gunk off the thin filter.

Nowhere near! But thanks. No, when I was in Logan I called the Moab Napa and had them order one. Picked it up a few days ago and now I'm fine. Just curious what to do if this happened again.

Looks like no one really stocks Weber air filters in a physical store. So my options are to either carry a spare, or go with K&N.

Thanks. Looks like in pretty much any location they're still going to need to order it, with a 2-3 day wait.

Either way, I've got a good clean filter on right now. I'll get the K&N eventually.

 

If you didn't want to go the K&N route, I've seen adaptors to change your filter over to the round style that everyone has. I can do some digging if that interests you.

Nope, that's cool, but thanks. I think I saw that somewhere too when I was first shopping for my Weber.

It's usually not an issue...but I didn't think about the fact that the Weber filter is just sitting there out in the open, instead of inside the metal casing like our stock ones are. Which is why the "pre-filter" wrapped around it makes sense...

I think I'm out of the worst of the red sand for now, so hopefully this filter will last months and months, and I'll get around to getting a K&N eventually.

 

the worst that'll happen is the particles will weld themselves to your sparkplug electrodes and you'll have to replace the plugs

 

I was more worried about the filter getting totally clogging and killing my engine power.
