V6 brakes

i want to upgrade my old brakes to a V6 caliper, rotor and master cylinder. i was going to use an '89 V6 caliper and master cylinder from a 4runner. But i wasnt sure what rotors i needed to use. ive read that you can just bolt on 86-95 rotors, but i also read you need Fj60 rotors. So which ones do i need. Thanks a lot

Depends on what rotors you have now. Do you have the ones that just bolt to the hub or the ones that bolt to the hub and the wheel studs pass through both?

you can also use the brake booster from a 4runner turbo (its dual diaphragm) for some extra stopping power. the dual piston design is actually pretty efficient.

yeah .. boosters are a bit of an issue for the "big brakes" .. as Al mentioned the turbo boosters are a direct bolt on .. but they are very difficult to find .. if you find one , BUY A LOTTERY TICKET !!

on my build (current build in my sig , just click on it) I used the 89-95 v6 calipers , with FJ80 vented rotors .. I also used a /99 Duel diaphram booster .. but there are some mods needed to make this work .. you can see it all on the build ...

I know personally that my 81 has the two bolt, all stud type rotors. And if I remember correctly it was only 79 and 80 that used the rotors that only bolted to the hub.

As far as answering your question, I don't remember what year land cruiser rotors go with what type that you have now, but if you look through the FAQ2.0 on pirate I know I have seen it in there before.

80 FJ80 vented rotors
83 toyota hubs (2 bolt style) so I dont have to use extended lug bolts
95 V6 Calipers with stock OE brake pads
