Transmission Swap

I have a 1980 Toyota that my son and I are restoring. It is all stock with a 4 speed gear box and I want to know if I can put a 5 speed gear box in its place. I have been told that the L series 5 speed gear box should bolt up to my transfer case and 20- R engine without changing my clutch, transmission support, and drive shafts with the only major change being to the floor pan in the cab. The truck will be driven mostly on the road which is why i'm looking for a higher gear. I'll post some pictures later when my son gets home from school as thats over my head. Thanks for your help and sugestions.
Will

yes you can do a direct swap with the L50 which is a 5speed. Obviously you would need the shifter with it too.

You can do a w56...but its alot of work.

Id try and find an L50 and go from there.

up load pic's to a free service like photobucket than copy and paste the to your pic.
The format that you ad in your 2nd post was incorrect

as far as swapping L-43/l45 to L50 or L52, it is a direct swap, with the exception of the gear shift.
I swapped my L-50 for an L-43 now in the process of going to an L-52

Thanks for the help with the pictures. Ill post one now. As for the transmission what exactly is required to swap a L43 with a L50 or L52 for a 20r motor. I would like the specifics as to which parts need to be used from which component. I am also curious how to tell the difference between a L50 and a L52. Any responce is appreciated.

thats a nice lookin truck. very clean.
I am in the same boat as you with the 4spd. Lookin for a L50 or L52, but
people on here say the w56 is a better tranny which i seem to find all over the place on craigslist and out at picknpull, what exactly is there to do to bolt that up to a 20r? is the bellhousing all the same? i know the drive lines are different lengths, and i will have to move the crossmember, but is that it?
