New to me 81 SR5

I bought this 81 SR5 4x4 yesterday from the original owner. It's got 155k miles and is in pretty good shape. Runs great, still the original motor with no rebuild to date. I can hear the timing chain needs to be done relatively soon. Idles smooth and feels just as strong as my 95 22re. Been in CA its entire life The stripes are peeling pretty bad, so I think I'm just going to remove them. Shell has got to go too. What do you guys think?

It's in pretty good shape, the radio is missing, but all the carpet seems pretty good. The headliner isn't even ripped. I'll post more pictures tomorrow when I grab my camera out of my other truck.

I dont know if youre into the square head lights or not but if you ever have trouble finding replacement bezels or buckets for your rounds the late 80's grills, buckets, and bezels bolt right in and look pretty good ended up doin that to my red one right before i wrecked it

79-81 Bezels are easier to find than the 82-83

Coming right at ya!
I got my camera today and as you requested, lots of pictures.
My original plan was to buy this first gen and sell my 3rd gen. It was cheaper than an SAS was my thinking and I just really love the first gens. I dreamed of owning one for a long time. Well, today I drove over to grab my pickup from where I left it parked when I bought the first gen. Just watching my dad drive my 95 away left me with my heart sinking. I feel that I cannot give up my first yota. I've spent the last 18 months working on making her just the way I wanted. She's served me well and never left me stranded on or off the road in the last 35k miles. I cannot afford both, and it's a crime to commute 35k miles a year in this clean of a first gen with this low of miles. Since I cannot afford to keep both and I thought I could sell my 3rd until I watched it drive away. I am going to sell the first gen and just save for an SAS. If anyone has any interest, you can PM me. I'd just like to make my money back on it. I am going to make a classified in the rigs for sale section, please don't inquire here. Will have it up tomorrow. Almost all of the rust is just surface rust where the paint was nicked. picturing all the problem areas. Of course any questions and comments on the truck are welcome.

This is the worst spot of rust, by the rear F spring mount on driver's side. its not very deep, but still rusty.

some rust around the rain gutter, all on the surface though.

Only crack in the dash is over the glove box.

You are absolutely freakin' killing me. If anybody wants to buy my '81 with 7" lift, I'll GLADLY run down to CA and pick this baby up. Otherwise, no cash.

I think you're nuts, but good luck with your sale, I'm SURE somebody will grab it.
