Pre 84 Trucks 1st gen pickups

Does anybody know if a transmission and transfer case out of an 1982 truck will work in a 1984 truck? The one in the 82 is a four speed and the one out of the 84 is a five speed.

Yes , it will physically fit. May have a few issues to deal with; possibly different lengths (may affect shafts and crossmember), driveshaft flange bolt holes differences.
