Taking off the doors

I think I'm just bored more than anything, as far as posting this...but it's been HOT here. I mean not like east coast or southern humid and 100* or anything, but hot. I'd like to just take off my doors for a few days.

I don't have half doors or tube doors or anything. Aside from it probably being illegal here to have the doors off my truck without some sort of...how do I describe it?..deeper "tub"? Like with vehicles meant to have their doors off, the floor is built so things won't roll right out the door when it's off. Anyway, anybody do this and have anything to say about it? I'm just going to be driving around town and out to a friends house who's more up in the mountains.

I've wanted to find some doors to make half doors out of for a while now, but it hasn't been a high enough priority...but it sounds nice to be driving around with the doors off right now.

Zach-it is great with out doors but personally I wouldn't do it with out half doors as a minimum.
The lip you refer to on the floor just acts as a ramp to launch thinds like my phone
Heck if you weren't 700 miles away I would make you killer deal on some doors..

Just be careful ..

Hey thanks! Too bad you aren't closer. Yeah, definitely careful. I started to realize that not having side view mirrors could be a little iffy, but it'll be easy to stick my head out the window...

I picked up mirrors for my half doors yesterday.
I wonder if you could bend a bracket to work under the hood (forward on the fender) for mirrors like a CB antenna mount..
I would have a d/s mirror.
Good luck

Thanks! I saw something either here or on Pirate or Marlin about that, too.

I guess I'll need to cut my speaker wires, too. But if I go with half or tube doors I guess I'd need to have quick-disconnects for them anyways.

Not sure if your doors are anything like the 3rd gens, but I cut the door pin out and replaced it with some quick release pins. Works great.

Thank you. Yes, it looks like the door hinges are the same.

They are officially off. Drove out to my friends for the night yesterday and back into town today. Definitely nice on the dirt roads, and around town. I will feel more comfortable when I've got some half doors or tube doors, though.

As it is now, no side view mirrors, and no music! Not a good thing.

I mounted the door speakers over the top seat belt bolt....GOTTA HAVE TUNES..I made a set of steel frame doors (think heep) that I am going to cover with material like the top...I yodarigged a set of the little stock plastic mirrors to the frame with hose clamps.....Where there is a will, there is a way....

Have fun with your TOYS

I've taken my doors and top off the last two summers.

At least around here I haven't had any issue with the law man.

And with the top off and doors, the visibility looking back is so much better I don't even need the side mirrors.

So what exactly are you using for a latch extension?

Does it have two opposite threaded eyelets on it and your twist it to make it tight? If so it is a turnbuckle, hard to tell on my phone...

yeah thats what it is! and it connects to the door and then hooks to where the real door clamps on and tightens to hold it shut
