Swapping from Weber back to stock carb

So I’ve had this Weber on my new Davez off road engine for about 3 months now. On flat ground this thing runs like a beast. I couldn’t be happier with it. Has more power and gets great mileage. On any sort of incline or creeping up an incline or sometimes even looking at an incline the carb will not run correctly.

I’ve done the float mod and the other vent mod with no real results. I also have a regulator set to 2 psi. It helped but I’m still not happy with it. I never had any issues with my stock carb. Call me crazy but I’ll be swapping back to stock. Unfortunately I sold by original stock carb.

It’s a Weber 32/36 with less that 1,000 miles on it. If anyone has a running OEM stock carb they would like to trade we can make a deal.

It is too bad you got rid of your good OEM carburetor.

The OEM carburetor is a fantastic carburetor, when working properly.

Good luck with finding one that is in good working order!

Not to talk you out of it, but I've been running that carb with great results for the past 7 years over 100k miles. My four tips for getting the most out of a Weber carb:

1. Make sure it's a genuine Weber when you buy it (there's lots of knock offs out there, and they're junk)

2. Lean-best idle adjustment using a quality timing light with rpm, and timing ever so slightly advanced off 0 tdc (5 maybe)

3. LCE exhaust kit. That carb can take in a lotta air, but has to be able to go somewhere.

4. K&N filter kit, and LCE spiral adapter kit (will help eliminate vacuum leaks at the carb base and add some hp)

Never modded, never rejetted, do need the fuel regulator though.

Can't help with the OEM carb but I agree, there's no reason a Weber can't run great. What kind of incline are you talking about? Extreme, or like the kind of stuff you can run into even on paved roads? I had one on a 78 and it never had any issues, even on the steepest paved inclines, like driveways.

How are you tuning it? Try with a wideband 02 sensor.
