Suspension questions

I have an '81 with a nearly new 4" suspension lift that I don't really care for all that much. I'm toying with the idea of trading for a stock-size suspension or at most a 2" lift.

What are the options, and does anybody have stock springs laying around in decent condition?

EDIT: Related question, shouldn't be a problem to tuck 33's under the fender with stock suspension right?

look into old man emu suspension. And as far as i know the 33's will not fit without cutting on stock suspension for your year truck.

All categories other than the 79-84 years list a lift height. What is the "default" lift?

When I bought my 83 it had 35's on it with no lift, and it would rub on flat ground just turning, but with the 33x10.5's I have on there now it's not even close to rubbing. Depends a little on the width of the tire, too.

Got it, so the 33x12.5's may rub if I run stock. OME doesn't sound too bad...wonder if anybody wants to by the chevy 63's I have in there now, hah...

Thanks guys.

I'm not sure the hanger ever got moved in the first place. I had a heck of a time keeping the shackle where it belonged, had to weigh down the bed or it would flip.

you have to move the hanger back 11" to fit 63's. i think i remember people saying that the 4wd 63" springs have a added leaf in them so find out what one you have and maybe you can take out the added leaf and it might lower the rear just alittle bit.

Hmmm, ok, then I may not have the 63" in there. I'll have to just get under there and measure I only know it has 4" of lift. Thanks all.

no, i misread the original post sorry the 12.50's will most likely rub but you might be able to get away with 10.50's. The old man emu lift is for 2" all the way around and from what i've read a really good system. Well worth the price and depending what suspension you have now an upgrade in ride quality.

If you really want to get good ride quality and custom hieght look into Alcan springs they're expensive but well worth it for the price.
