Hi guys,
On my 1981 Longbed 4x4 I recently upgraded to 31" tires. I still have stock leaf springs and shocks, and was thinking about doing a whole suspension overhaul. I's like to keep it as stock height as possible, and just improve ride comfortability and slightly improve offroad capability. The smallest upgrade i have found in the OME 2" Medium load. Does anyone have any input? I am worried that once it compensates for the worn out leafs i have in right now, I am actually looking at closer to 4" of lift, and I think my tires would look a bit small on that, but i love the way the 31s feel inn terms of power and fuel economy. Will it look disproportionate? Any info would be super appreciated.
Thanks!
Joe
PS i added a photo of what happened to my 30s on the highway that made me get new tires hahah
I have a set of omes waiting to go on. For the money, probably best you can get. You can spend more money and get custom springs. I dont think you can spend less and get anything of equal quality.
i dont remember seeing any non lift springs and theres a lot of crap springs floating around the net that I wouldnt trust especially any chinesium steel made recently.

Good luck!!
These older Toys don't have comfortable rides and you can't improve both as far as I know.
The front axle hits the bump stops far too soon to be able to get a soft/supple ride out of the existing suspension, so it will always be a rough ride unless you re-engineer everything.
Your best bet to improve offroad capability is to get better tires. maybe add a rear locker or at least a limited slip.
If you lift it at all you will be adding to bump steer unless you convert to crossover steering. 2 inches might be doable, but the more you go up the worse it gets.
