Hi again all,
I'm not sure this is the right forum to be writing this but i have a couple questions about some additions id really like to add to my truck.

VENT WINDOWS: these seem super cool, and i've had these in other cars and they work better than AC. I have an 81 4x4, does anyone knoe if the windows from the 84-88 years would also fit in my doors? they are a bit easier to come across, or maybe even grabbing them from a 2wd model? If anyone sees someone parting out a truck that has these i would be very very interested!

BENCH SEAT: I think it makes the truck way more usable if i have three people. question is, would 84-88 or even 89-95 benches fit in my truck? 2wd vs 4wd? and has anyone reupholstered themselves? from calling around to shops its gonna run me close to 500 bucks, which seems pretty steep. My plan is going to be to shop around until i find a nice one, but i need to know which models are usable! Im not limited to toyotas either, if there is another bench that would fit i am open to using that as well.

no , windows are different from the 84-88's , they wont fit .
wing windows from 79-83 are the only ones 2 or 4WD . You dont need the whole door , just the frame , glass , and regulator . all the holes are there , its all "bolt in"


84-88 bench will fit best if you cant find a 79-83 , 89-95 is much wider

But are you really gonna squeeze 3 people in there? Yall better really like each other.

 

If you don't really like each other when you start out, the minute you shift into 2nd or 4th, you will get a lot friendlier!

Yeah if you plan on having a bloke ride in the middle you might want to invest in a short shifter to avoid any awkwardness shifting into reverse.

 

Nope, no, not a chance. Sorry, but guys ride in back, or, at the very least, on the door side. Girls ONLY in the middle in MY truck.
At least it's only the pickup that has this problem. The front seats in the 4Runner are bucket. If ANYone tries to sit in the middle, they'll make shifting darn difficult. Interesting shifter knob, though
