Starting issue with desmogged 22r
I am having an issue with my newly put together desmogged 22r in my 82. I have essentially removed/capped off everything smog wise and electric with the carb.
Whats happening is it will only start when i pour a splash of fuel down the carb, once it starts it runs fairly well, have not had a timing light on it yet but have it timed decently by ear. Even if it runs for 10, 15 minutes, if i shut it off, no amount of pumping the throttle etc will restart it, have to splash it with fuel again, then fires right up.
Gonna stick a timing light on it tomorrow to verify that, but beyond timing does anyone have any other suggestions or things to check that have to do with startup fuel?

If your carb has a fuel cut solenoid on it and you disconnected it your truck won`t start. Also when desmogging your 22R leave the vacuum lines hooked up to the vacuum advance on the distributor.

Hmm its the stock carb, how would i identify a fuel cut solenoid? Didnt think there was anything like this on these trucks but i could be wrong, and the vacuum advance is hooked up

Hooked that all up, and even switched the carb out for a spare i had and still having the same problem, starting to wonder if i dont have a big vacuum leak somewhere letting to much air into the engine
