Some ideas

I was looking into a 3rz swap using a pre made wiring harness from ORS and I added everything up it would run about 4k to do the swap. Has anyone had good luck with there harness. Or should I just stick to the 22r?

This is what they sent me

From the donor vehicle you will need:
3RZ/2RZ longblock- new, remanufactured, or used
Exhaust manifold
Intake manifold
Intake plenum with throttle body
All items on motor related to fuel injection such as injectors, fuel rail, vsv’s, sensors, throttle body, etc.
Alternator and brackets
Power steering pump and brackets
A/C compressor and brackets
Spark plugs
Spark plug wire set and distributor (if applicable)
Cylinder coil packs (4) (if applicable)
Engine (injector) wiring harness
ECU (computer)
Igniter assembly (flat, square shape, usually black, near intake box - if applicable)
Intake system- tubing, air box, air filter. If upgrading to an aftermarket intake system, only the air flow meter mounting tube and hardware will be necessary.
Evaporative canister (optional)
Evaporative vapor pressure sensor
Evaporative vapor pressure VSV
Evaporative purge VSV
Starter
Air flow meter
Oxygen sensors (2), post and pre-cat
OEM oxygen sensor exhaust ports (welded to pipe)
catalytic converter, when possible
Bell-housing
Flywheel with mounting hardware
Clutch
Release bearing, pilot bearing
Clutch fork
Slave cylinder
All the OEM hardware you can get your hands on...
We would be happy to perform the install. Our labor can vary, depending on many factors. A rough guess on install labor would be $2500. You will also have the above listed cost of the wiring harness and oil pan kit, hoses, etc.
A good condition used engine w/ donor parts normally costs $1200-1800. You will also need a newer transmission and driveshafts. With an install there will also be a few other costs, such as a new exhaust system, misc. supplies, fluids, etc.

unless your specifically "sold" or getting a good deal on the engine , I would say for a few extra bucks , step up to a 5Vzfe 3.4L .. Way more HP and just as easy

personally , although the 22r series is a GREAT engine .. it's 30 year old technology .. and I will never build another for my own personal use .
my S/C 3.4 ~ 300hp gets better fuel economy then any 22r re I have ever owned

.

Look for a Taco, 95-05. 4X4 would be ideal because it would have the correct oil pan.
Really, a complete truck would be your best bet because you'll need all the parts it has: tranny, clutch, harness, evap and smog gear.
I'm not too familiar the 5VZ-E swaps. I know with the 3Rz you can use the R series bellhousing from the 3RZ and mate it to a R-150/1 transmission, but I don't know if that's an option with these motors. You might want to poke around the 95-05 Taco forum to learn what gear makes that truck tick.

To be honest I will probably end up building a 22r or a 20/22r because if I put a doner truck in my drive way and tear it apart I will get a bunch of nasty letters or kick off post. I hate living on a army post some times.
