Just read through your thread. Congrats on the bike and the cab. Good to see a truck saved from the scrapyard.

I need to go check my storage barn because that cab looks just like mine!!! LOL Apparently our PO's like that color blue, but mine decided not to paint the door handles, lock cylinders, vent and emblems... LOL

hah yea its a little rough around the edges but it was 350 bucks and the guy delivered it. it came with seats too. something i sort of overlooked was the placement of the hole for my shifter. it looks like mine is over a little to passenger side because its the 4 speed. this cab has one large hole right in the center might have to do some surgery.

it was sort of a bitch only had 4 guys and it had to be lifted over the bed and carried to the front because of spacial issues... i bought a polyeurathane body mount kit from summit that was supposed to match up with the stock hardware but the holes in the washers are a little bit small so i had to slightly modify them.

its hard to tell what you are looking at but its the steering wheel where it mounts to the underside of the dash... this is the steering wheel out of my 1980 it is in the new cab here unfortunately the holes on the bracket dont quite line up. they need to be further apart to line up with the dash...

Good job so far. I have only done a bed swap and even though everything lined up perfectly it was still a pain lol

been pluggin away at the truck and ive been kinda keeping away from the wiring harness. the plugs dont match the ones in my engine bay and im having trouble identifying what goes where... should i just take the wiring harness from my original cab out and put it in this new one? the other problem im having is brackets not lining up. my steering wheel fits other than the large bracket right under the dash. the hole is about a quarter inch from lining up with the bracket... same with my gas pedal... in this case i can just drill a new hole in the fire wall but in the case of the steering wheel there isnt really anwhere to drill on the underside of the dash and there isnt enough meat on the bracket to put a hole where it needs to be. i would have to drill half a hole out of the edge of the bracket and then shove a big fat washer on the bolt to get some bite which i am considering doing.

today i discovered the 1982 wiring harness is pretty different from the 1980 so i have to take the wiring harness out of my old cab and put it in the new one...

big ugly mess (if you look you can see i managed to label one thing on that entire harness i love to shoot myself in the foot)

figured out how to take the dash off my new cab without removing the window I was pretty happy with myself

took out the wiring harness of my new cab today and started installing the other one... heres the cab stripped Name: P1010158_zpsc713e000.jpg

i decided im gonna take the whole brake bracket from my old truck which will make it so my old steering wheel fits and also use the old dashboard because that fits to the bracket and should make it easier to use the old wiring harness...

heres something interesting that the po did...

so im thinking about swapping the transmission out for a 5 speed... partly because my old 4 speed side shifter transmission is a slug on the freeway and partly because if i cut the floor to make the side shifter fit now and then swap the transmission later im gonna feel mighty stupid. any insight on what transmission to get? the cab is a 1982 not sure what fits what year... this whole thing was a surprise to me to begin with.
