Reverse rear shackle angle????

Reverse rear shackle angle????
Hey guys have a quick question on my 1980 toyota pickup. I bought the truck from the metal scrap yard for wieght with the rear end shifted around and the drive shaft bent. The aluminum lift blocks for the rear were sheared off and I didnt have money for leaf springs just yet. So.......
I bought some 3" tough country add-a-leafs to get the rear back up to match the front until I can afford the real deal. Well obviously the added bow from the leaf made the what I assume is stock spring pack shorter from eye to eye to the point where the rear shackle is now like this / instead of like this \ (looking on the drivers side pack). What is this going to break? I am sure it cant be good. Should I pull the add-a-leafs back off? Thanks for the help! By the way, the shackles I am almost 100% sure are not factory.....it appears they are home made.

it could break stuff such as the spring, or the shackle, or the hanger lol.
but i dont think it would unless you go jumping it. i would work on getting that corrected, but you should be fine. it will just ride like a square wheeled wagon.

Try picking up the rear end of your truck by the frame. Let the rear axle hang loose. The shackle should then have no stress on it except the weight of the axle. Watch the shackle in question as you lower the truck and put weight back on the springs. Some prying might be in order to get the shackle back to its proper position like the other side.

i had that same problem with a set of skyjacker springs. i had to have a freinds help to fix it. get the rig jacked up till the tires just lift,then have your freind lower the jack slowly while you pry the shackels the right way. dont try to do any flexing for awhile or the shackels will flip the wrong way. the springs should settle and flaten out after a few hundred miles of driveing. this fixed mine and they havent had any problems since, and my rig is a dedicated trail rig. good luck
