ordered redline weber, few ?'s
Hi all, new to the forums here, I just recently purchased my first toyota, its a 1980 with a 20R, decent little rig, it has what appears to be the original Aisan Carb.. the truck is running a bit rough, she will only accept idle at around 1500RPM's .. any lower and it likes to die at stop signs and such, if i idle her down to around 800rpm where id imagine it should be, she shakes, thumps, and fluxes up and down between 800-1300rpms on her own, ive tryed adjusting the fuel/air, but it doesnt seem to effect anything, the fuel is in the middle of the dot on the eyeglass, ive pumped enough carb cleaner to start a fire, changed cap/rotor, plugs, wires, threw some lucas carb cleaner in the tank etc etc.. all i could figure was the carb is crap, so i purchased the redline weber 32/36 toyota 20R kit, was curious if its just a simple installation, or is there any surprises i might run into? And any suggestions or opinions on my idle issue would be great, thanks!

I have the Redline 32/36 kit on my 20R, the bracket for the throttle cable didn't bolt on anywhere, I think they sent me one for a 22R, I didnt like the way they wanted me to run the throttle cable anyway so I made my own setup.
The carb is sweet, seems to run on any angle so its good for wheeling. When its cold out it ices up but you just have to let the motor sit for a minute and restart it and its fine until the motor is cold again, If I had an EGR it would be fine but my truck never came with one from the factory.
My idle is set at 850, the intake on the Weber makes it really loud inside the truck but, no complaints!

if the truck dies when you use the brake your timing is late or there is a vaccuum leak. the old aisin carb could be leaking like mad. If you spray carb cleaner on the housing and the idle changes then you found your problem.
also make sure your timing is set good and follow the webre base tuning proceedure. If you have any problems getting it dialed hit me up I am in your back yard.
