Oil spewing from the block

Oil spewing from the block
Make a long story short…
I bought a 1982 22r long block from an engine builder and behind the passenger side engine mount bracket there is a threaded hole in the block where something (a plug) is missing and oil is coming out of the hole. Unfortunately I don’t have any idea or pictures of what goes into that hole.
I didn’t run the engine like this.
Can someone help me out?

Oil filter is on that side in that area as well, just sayin.
I do believe there is also a second plug just forward of that oil filter and oil pressure sending unit. But I am not 100% sure on that. I remember a while back someone saying something about being able to remove a plug in an oil passage that you can use instead of teeing off the oil pressure sending unit.

I don’t think the sending unit or the filter would fit behind the engine mount bracket, Behind the bracket as in directly behind the bracket in between the four engine mount bracket mounting bolts that mount the bracket directly to the block… Should have got a pic of it.
But yep, even got a Toyota oil filter from the dealer. Oil pressure and filter are in

Ok so now oil galley its fixed but I have an issue when its running.
She fires right up
and its freaking awesome... but has Idle surge and drops back down to an almost stall then it surges back up.
Vacuum line, carb, ignition problem?
I was going to start build thread last night but my internet service was down. Probably becouse the PGA is in town and they redirected all the bandwith to the rich people!

wow never seen a 22r do that. Only a 22re. Maybe a fuel supply issue. Could be vacuum leak.
What is the fuel level in the carb doing? It almost seem like the fuel bowl fills up and then empties when the engine revs down it uses less fuel so fuel bowl fills back up allowing the carb to supply more fuel and thus revs back up.
As I said, I never seen that before so this is only guess work on my part.

I will have to look at the float level. Would Vac advance or HAC cause this?
I might by pass the HAC and see if it could be the culprit. Also the PO had the Distributor vac hoses the opposite of the Haynes manual and opposite of under the hood sticker (can barley read it)

I doubt it, but anything I say is pretty much guesswork at this point with it. You do have it timed to 0 degrees with vac advance off right? I doubt a timing issue though would cause that.

On 1982 22r. The air cleaner housing has two items built into it that need to be hooked up; MC valve and Thermo Valve. I didn't have it hooked up when it was on the first time.
At least I didn't mess anything else up trying to diagnose the issue.
