oil pump problems

oil pump problems

hey i have been noticing that my yota have been having significant oil pressure loss between start up and and being drivin around, so i was wondering does any body now a way to boost oil pressure. or should a drop the pan and replace the pump

Is this a new thing? It should drop when you're idling or just driving around town.

Oil pump is on the front of the engine, you don't need to drop the pan. It's just the pickup tube that's up under the pan.

I have the same symptoms with my truck, but everyone says its normal. 5psi at idle when warm.

on my tahoe my oil gauge sits at half at idle my yota sittin at about a quarter, should it be running at half also?

I'll see where mine sits. I think mine goes down to about half when I'm just idling, but it may slip down a little farther sometimes. Mine's a 22R, by the way. Not sure what you've got or if it makes a difference. My engine is pretty much brand new, too.

You should get a aftermarket oil pressure gauge, to get a precise number.
