new timing chain

I'm putting a double row timing chain kit in my truck(83 p/u, 22r) and seem to have run into a problem. I can't get my crank pulley back on all the way. Do I need to shorten my oil pump spline? If so, how much? Thanks in advance

you actually need the double row pump spline ..

I have one at my shop I'm sure .. I could measure it for ya if you want to cut it ? your best just to buy one , or get one from the wrecker though .

if you could measure it, that would help me out a ton. The yards around here seem pretty picked over but I'll see what I can scrape up.

I do have the right oil pump, already tried with the wrong one and that just didn't work at all! I'm going to head on down to the junk yard today to hopefully find a 20r

Good luck! Next time I need a new chain or rebuild (hopefully not for a long time), I'll be going with the dual chain.

I have dont tons of these , and the oil pump size is a non-issue .. really the only differince you should be interested in , is the Turbo pump is a hi volume .. the rest are just normal .. The hi volume is really not necessary though .. not on a stock engine .

here ya go ...

you would have to "cut " both ends , if your going to cut it .. but here is a pic for ya ..

and I figured you could measure yours !

great, thanks! took it down to a local machine shop and got it turned down on a lathe for the low price of free.99! The truck is getting closer to running... I love this forum
