New radiator and HG?

Hey Guys,

I did some searching but found nothing like my situation, so maybe you can help me out a little.

I bought a 82 this past week and guy said it needed carb work (normal) but otherwise ran fine, and it did.

I kept needing to add coolant cause the radiator would be low, thought HG but it ran fine and no water in oil or oil in water.

I now hear air noise through the carb which when I release the radiator cap, the noise through the carb stops, meaning there is definitely a problem right?
What am I looking at? New HG only? Or new HG and radiator (the current radiator has gook all in it)?
I work on my other trucks and equipment all the time, but I am new to Yota's.
Can you offer any advice? Yes I spent a couple of hours searching.

Bought the head gasket set today. How involved is this job? Any tips from those who have done it?

So have you actually tested it to confirm there is a HG issue? No way I'd tear it all down on guesswork.

How would you go about testing it? I have air from the engine going into the coolant system....

Have you done a pressure test on the coolant system and a leak down test on all 4 cylinders?

I will go ahead and get that done, but it seems fairly self explanatory..... Air pushed into radiator when engine turns, radiator spits water out.

I removed the spark plugs and the plugs from cylinders 3 & 4 had gray gook on them. The gray must be from oil and water getting into there so I am certain its a HG. I am going to replace that, and I will wait on a radiator or anything else.
