Moisture coming in the door panel

I noticed i'm getting moisture coming inside the door and soaking into my door panels. I know modern cars have a piece of plastic glued to the door between under the door panel. Does any one know what kind of glue that is? Could I use some kitchen caulking and some thick plastic?

Its available at the parts store in strips, you need multiple packages, and at your big box hardware store as butyle.

You can use tape in a pinch but it will dry out eventually.

The plastic sheeting glued to the door may only keep the water from getting to the door panels. You need to stop the water from getting into the door in the first place. More likely it's the belt-line weatherstrips and/or the window channel felt.

Water will always get in the door.

The rubber and felt strips are only to minimize the amount of water that gets in, but were never meant to completely seal the window.

That is why there are vapor barrier between the door sheet metal and the interior door panel, and drain holes formed into the bottom of the door.

Before sealing up the vapor barrier, check to make sure the drain holes are not clogged and water can flow freely through them.

Of course, if your rubber and felt strips are in poor shape, then replacing them would be a good idea!

Thank you for the reply. Im changing the door rubber. Needed to know about the plastic so I can protect the speaker that is going in the door, also the door panel.
