Ok, I have an '83 truck. On the front I have 3" lift springs from skyjacker. What springs can I get for the rear and not have to move my rear spring hangers? Thanks.

 

to make it level, use 2" springs in the rear. skyjacker and downey make bolt-in springs.

 

I've read a lot of threads about different leaf springs, my other thought was the 63" chevy's and just relocate the spring hangers. This is going to be a daily driver as well as a trail rig, and I live in MO, so not going to be doing an rockcrawling. Any opinions or ideas on spring setups for the rear would be appreciared. I will probably end up with an all pro style flat bed on it as well.

 

From what I have read, the Chevy springs are the best way to go, good flex and they ride nice. I say go for it.
Sky Manufacturing makes kits for them, all you have to do is get the springs.
Also, why spend the money for an all-pro flatbed if you are only doing minor wheeling?

 

The reason for the flatbed is because right now there is no bed, it is still in project phase. It isn't even running right now, I'm getting ready to do an EFI conversion on it. I also just like the way the flatbed looks, and I think it will be easier since I have to mount the EFI tank in a different location.

 

I decided to go with downey's in the rear. Got the springs and shackles in last week. Waiting on a U-bolt flip kit from Marlin. The U-bolts were pretty rusted and the thing that holds them in place was rusted in half, so I thought I would just go with the flip kit. I should be able to put the new springs on next weekend. I'll try to post some pics then.

 

I know thesuspensionking.com can make you 3" lift springs for the rear of your 83 Toyota pick-up. They would bolt right in, I believe stock part # is TOY17 you would need. Then you will have to call them or email them. They can make them special with a 3" lift. They will probably cost you around 180.00 each bushed for 3" lift springs. They can be made in about a week.

I have a 78 toyota im converting to 4wd whats the easiest cheapest way to convert the rear from spring under to spring over..

 

easiest way is to get a 79-83 4wd axle that already has the spring mounts on top of the axles, usually fairly cheap since people pulling them to convert to a wider '86 plus IFS rear axles. but that also depends on what donor axle you are using upfront.

several venders such as wab-fab, trail-gear have spring mounts for cheap: $29 + shipping
