Just curious did you see the vehicle this came out of??

It sounds from your description almost like this engine could have been rebuilt not to long ago.

I do not think they ever came with the metal backed timing chain guides from new.

A budget of a 17 year old unless your out on your own with a girl friend/wife and at least one child.

You have more disposable income then lots of us .

Yeah I love these first gens they're awesome!!
And yeah it came out of a 81 or 82 2wd pickup i'm sure its had a new timing set because there were no marks on the guides and the tensioner barely had marks too plus there was tension still on the chain on the tensioner side when not running so the chain still seems good but the rest of it still seems to be all original.

You found the holy grail of jy engines! Good luck on the rebuild. Look foreward to seeing another first gen in town.

I got my '81 when I was 17, I'm 34 now. Loved it then and love it more now.

Yeah thanks guys. I can't wait to get it done and throw it in then after the break in wheeling will be a lot more fun especially with a cam in it. I also have a buddy that might do a port and polish for me.
