I'm assuming the answer is yes,since most parts on 79-83 are inter changeable,but have to ask to make sure.I have an 82' 22R in my 1980 4x4 and have the 20R that it came with sitting idle,the timing cover,water pump,and oil pump all look to be in great condition.Are they interchangeable
with the 82 motor?? Thanks for any replies.

 

Some timing covers are single chain and some are dual chain. The oil pumps and water pumps for the single and dual chain covers are different. Some of the bolts and hardware are different also.
