I'm new here and I hate Vacuum Lines.

Hi everybody,

A month or so ago I bought this '83 from my friend for $500. He says it needed a carb rebuilt and should be fine. Spent $50 on a rebuild kit and, yeah, I can get it to start, and idle, but that's it. If I get it ANY amount of throttle it dies.

Sooo, details. Let's see - it's a California model for starters, and it's been partially converted to, a, not California model, although there's lots of CA stuff still under the hood. There's maybe only four or five vacuum lines hooked up at this point. It's a nightmare because there must be...if I'm honest...somewhere around one or two hundred thousand vacuum lines in this thing.

I've also bought a Weber 32/36 for it, and I've started installing that.

Basically, what's the best way to get rid of all of this emissions crap??? I'm only going to use the thing off highway and local laws permit me to remove all of this garbage, so that's not a concern.

Any thoughts?

Oh yeah, here's a picture. The 'bumper' in the front makes me LOL.

Hi, First off...welcome to Yota Tech.. There's a lot of good info to be found here. You have to decide if your emissions junk needs to function. If it doesn't your in good shape. I installed a Weber 32/36 on mine and the only vacuum line I have on the engine is one going to the vacuum advance. I took baskets of lines off and it runs and looks so much cleaner. Just make sure you plug or cap off any openings into the manifold. Hope this helps. Fred
