Okay this seems like a really stupid problem, but my simple mind can't figure it out. I am trying to replace my front rotors ('81 4x4) and I can't get the hub body off to remove the rotor. Per FSM instructions, I removed the outer snap ring and cone washers from the hub housing. I can pull the hub housing ~ 0.5in and then it hangs up on something. Is there another snap ring that I am not seeing? Everything I have read says that the housing should just slide off. I believe that the hub was in the free position when I removed it, but if I removed it in the lock position could this be the issue?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

 

down load the FSM using the link in my signature...it is for an '85 but it will apply to all SA's..well worth the 58 MB or however big the file is.
