Homebrew Fuel Injection

Came across a cool setup today for non fuel injected R series motors, basically.. its a Bosch CIS direct injection system from a VW(I have the EXACT system in my 86 Rabbit 1.8L).. I never really thought about doing that but in theory it wouldn't be that hard to do, Since CIS systems are not computer controlled all you would really have to do is fab a custom intake, figure out the throttle cable, relocate the battery and drill/tap holes in the stock intake for the injectors or make an adapter plate then mount everything up. I just never really thought about adapting it to an R series motor seems like a good idea.

Im on the look out for a cheap rabbit/motor to grab the parts from.. I think I might actually give this a try if I can find a donor motor/vehicle.

Wouldn't a Throttlebody injection type thing be a little simpler? Or is this kinda like that?

thats actually not a bad idea, they made alot of vehicles using the mech CIS, an upgrade to these would be a volvo system from the same years they have bigger intake parts, also if you found a volvo turbo cis system it could all be swaped onto the engine and you could have a turbo........a TBI wouldnt be bad either, only prob i would have would be finding one small enough for the 2.4, hm maybe a chevy 2.8.....
