toyospearo, I agree with the other two guys, if ur in ca you could definatly find one for the same price that is a little more sound, but if you want it and the dude is a friend id bewilling to pay $500 for that, it is a straight axle toy and thay ARE bad ass. If ur looking for a play toy and you can get it for $500 get it, but if you want a daily driver and you can still get it, DONT!!! Keep in mind this is just my opinion. I bought mine for $500 and i realize I was damn lucky, ask me about it and i will tell you.
Good luck.

To PBR; ... hey guys, is it just me, or does it look like some CGI movie ghoul, is crawling out from underneath the truck, on the passenger side? Doesn't that look like a twisted hand, on some emaciated arm, coming out from under that truck?

Looks like a mud flap and a leaf to me lol

All these nice looking stockers being posted in here it makes me want to get another 1st gen to have as a restro ride.

Yesterday I took my crawler out to the local playground for its first rock since I finished my four link rear.

Thanks to my girl Julie (pictured) for not bitching while I was gone for like 6 wks and Big John of 4x4Beast Fabrication (pictured) for helping me with the 4-link, among other things!
Can't forget Extreme Gear Off Road for supplying me with the parts needed to complete this build.

Thanks myyota85, next time ur in Cali ring me up and I'll take you out, Rubicon and the Fordyce trail are my stomping grounds.

rangerruck, the stinger is one piece that pierces the 2x4 tube that runs under the front of the frame used for the front spring hangers. We burned holes into the 2x4, ran the stinger into it and welded it up... makes it really strong that way!

First off I want to say other than owning an '84 Supra 15 years ago, I'm a newbie to Toyotas and this site has been a very useful reference so far.

That said, here's the truck I picked up this weekend for $500. '82 DLX, all original, just a hair over 98k original miles. The guy I bought it from (second owner) recently put new tires on it, a fuel pump, new brakes, and a windshield. It looks as though the maintenance has been kept up and everything works, even the A/C. He sold it so cheap because the engine sounded like it was about to blow up and he had no interest in having it sit in his yard and didn't care to fix it. Honesty got the best of me and I tried to tell him it was just the water pump bearing, but he didn't care b/c he was already shopping for a new truck. $30 and a water pump later, and I have a great running truck.

Keep in mind the pics were taken right after I got it home and I had yet to clean it.

DUDE!!! that is a awesome all origional truck; even inside the
engine bay is awesomely clean!!!! I don't even know if I would do anything to it, cept to make it look as all origional as possible, just newer.
and that is barely any miles for a truck that is almost years old....

Thanks! I'll post new pics tomorrow. I picked it up friday (3 days ago) and have been working on it all weekend. I picked up an SR5 cluster at the local pull-a-part and will install it in the morning. Otherwise, I thoroughly cleaned it, touched up a few odds and ends, installed a trick cup holder, did a little maintenance, and installed the radio in the dash.

As a newbie here, I'll claim ignorance and ask if there is a Toyota classifieds. I really need a drivers side door panel. Apparently the window came loose from the regulator and instead of fixing it, the PO pulled the panel off to access the glass when rolling it down. Problem is that he decided to store the panel under his lean-to... that leaked... and had rats... etc...
