A few nights ago it was getting spark..running and everything. But the next morning I tried to start it and no spark. That's when I swapped the ignitor, distributor, coil, spark plugs, and even spark plug wires. But still no spark. I'm starting to think it's a wiring issue but not really sure. I don't know what else it could be. I'm so fed up with this truck I like roll um off the cliff already..but mahalo for ur guys input.

You said you swapped the ignitor? Where did you get it from? Check wires coming off ignitor flowing across valve cover for breaks. Hows the coil and ignitor grounds? Try beating on the ignitor and see if it helps. Sure you got no spark? How did you test it? Truck turning over good?

I have a 83 Toyota 4x4 pickup also so I swapped stuff out of that truck and into the one that has no spark. And everything that I took out from that truck works fine cause that truck runs. Okay I'll check the wires..there was breaks but I wrapped it with black tape..I guess I should just try replacing it with a new one. I know it has no spark because I took off the coil wire and hooked it to metal and started the truck up and didn't see a spark. The truck turns over fine..it just won't start. Mahalo for your help.

Take the tap and covering off those wires and see if its broke. Or before that trying moving the wires around and start it. Check grounds. If it starts then theres prob a broke wire. Ignition switch? With key on engine off are all the dash lights working? You can try and start it from the starter.

K I'll go check the wires. The ignition switch works..dash lights turn on. Mahalo.

Check that your magnetic pickup is within spec, that can cause a no-fire problem. 83's have magnetic pickup right?

The magnetic pickup is inside of the distributor. It's job is to tell the coil when to fire, based on the position of four lobes on the distributor shaft, which represent the position of the pistons in the motor.

Glad you got it running!

When i try to start up the truck it has a hard time starting..like it's not getting gas. It takes couple mins for it to actually start but once it starts running..it idles fine and everything. The only thing is that when you stomp on the gas it sputters and seems like it wants to die out. but if you rev it slowly..it's okay. ummm..i didn't notice if had anything in the float bowl but i'll check. how do you check the float bowl???..sorry i'm a newbee. Mahalo!!

Check/replace your fuel filter too.

Do you have the stock aisin carb? If so, you should be able to see the gas level through the sight glass in the front of the carb.

Fuel filter is always a good idea too, like nc mentioned.

Could also be an ignition issue. Seems more likely as you were just having trouble with ignition. I just went through something like this, it would start, but if I gave it throttle it would just kill it, give it throttle slowly and it would get past a certain RPM and run okay.

Turned out that I had a bad ignitor module. So it could be your ignitor, could be bad timing, bad ground to your ignitor module, bad wires, incorrect air gap for the magnetic pickup, bad coil . . . It's just process of elimination.

Not telling you that it is your ignition, just don't cross it off . . .

Ok i put a new fuel filter in today. I notice that when i start the truck up and spray carb cleaner into the carb it runs good and idles fine but as soon as i stop spraying the cleaner it's like there's not enough gas. I was thinking the carb is clogged or something. It's a weber carb. Mahalo you guys for all your help!!!!!
