the igniter was the problem ... i went to about 5 junkyards saturday and finally found one that even had a toyota truck (didnt see any carb celicas) i popped the hood to the truck and just about everything was gone ... i mean even the fluid reservoirs were gone ... but i looked and sitting between the front radiator support and wheel well was the coil and igniter already disconnected and everything ... told the guy at the front counter it was out of a old ford truck and he only charged me $20+tax

i got it home switched over the plug ends (it had round plugs) and the truck started as soon as i tapped the key didnt even turn over once

but i found out today when i was out for a sunday drive that i need an alternator too (luckily that is cheap and i was only 1/2 a mile away from home when it shut off and my neighbor owns a towing company :biggrin

so anyways thanks for all the help guys!

i was surprised how hard it was to find any toyota truck at the junkyards (not just 1st gen) i guess that speaks for the quality of these trucks

... but at one of the junkyards i did find a buick Invicta wagon

similar to this one

we researched it a little and apparently there were only 1600 made in the style we saw

Doug18 you should pick up that buick wagon and put a 22re in it.. or maybe 3.4 v6

and just drive it stock, or maybe turn it into a 4x4 wagon.. and put a snow plow out front.. and a canoe up top, with fishing poles hanging out the back window.

with all the space that was under the hood im sure you could put 4 22Rs under there ... just think of all those igniters that you would have to buy
