Help with cam
I think I have narrowed the ticking in my motor down to timing chain and guides. I have the motor tore down right now and realized that my exhaust manifold is cracked all to hell!! I am fixing to order headers to fix that problem and they will also allow me to clean up the engine bay a bit. I already have installed a new weber carb and figured since I have the head off I might as well upgrade the cam. I am going to buy the timing set from engnbldr, if I buy a cam from them what should I get. This truck is mainly going to be driven a few times a week around town. will the 268 give it a little pep? I'm not concerned with fuel mileage.

261 is a very small difference from stock,
the 268 is also pretty small but will probably require re-jetting, especially with the addition of a header, good for mid range and low-end.
the 270 is their biggest off-the shelf but still pretty small, you won't lose bottom end and it won't change idle, but engnbldr did say somewhere that this cam requires the cam timing to be retarded around 2* for it to work well, so you need an adj cam gear, and will need re-jetting.
Just know I don't speak from experience since I have nerver tried their cams, but I have read a lot about them and base my opinions on other peoples results and explanation, including engnbldr's. I may have found a good deal on a trd stg 3 (crane cam) with an adjustable cam gear but if the deal doesn't fall through I will definately go with he 270 h/o.
