grey smoke when shifting... carb??
I should have installed the weber carb months ago- Now I am getting a puff of grey smoke when I shift. I don't see any blue/ rainbow look to the smoke so I don't think it is burning oil, but what is this? Unburnt fuel? Why only when I shift?

I already looked for coolant in the oil, because I have been down the HG road before (Last truck met that fate, temp gauge didn't work... end result, death). I didn't see any creamy-ness on dip stick/oil cap. But now I am VERY WORRIED I have a much more serious issue than a bad carb.

um every time you shift you get a puff of smoke? well with my last engine it was bad vavle seals and really old gas combination ..... I shouldnt have been driving it but, put a new engine in my 83 and it cleared it up reuesed to carb so I dont think it was the carb you could try leaning out the carb to see .

My husband just put mysterious gas from a random gas can at his jobsite in my truck last week... But he claims it was smoking BEFORE the mystery gas and he was convinced it was indeed gasoline. I wonder altough if there was a ton of water in it or some other substance. Could this relate to the smoke??
I feel like the only causes I know of for smoke is 1. Head Gasket/ Coolant 2.Burning Oil 3.Running very Rich. Doesn't seem like the gas would relate, does it?
