Talking Got the old yota together and back on the road

So I bought this 83 pickup in shambles last saturday.

I worked on it a bit every day so far.

Put interior back together
Finished putting motor back together (motor and trans were just resting in truck
Welded brackets in place for crossmember that was repositioned
located correct driveshafts and drilled out new bolt pattern on axle flanges to match
Repaired brake line
Cleaned the body up (the truck had been sitting outside and hadn't been together since 2004)
Mounted some nicer tires. 33x12.5 BFT M/T
Repainted the rims, front brush guard thing, roll bar, mirrors, and bumpers
Did lots of little odds and ends, and still a lot to do.

I am glad to see this truck back on the road. Not a bad litle truck for $500

Here are some pictures of the somewhat finished product as of tonight!!

When I saw it on craigslist, I thought I should jump on it.
The old lady wanted to get another truck to go wheelin with too. I had been keeping my eye out for only a week or two when I came across it.

We are planning to take both trucks out to the badlands in Indiana this weekend. Should be fun if the 83 makes it there

I like the optimism! It seems to run good. It starts up with one pump and runs smooth.

I am still running the truck on the gas from 2004. I am going to start driving it daily starting tomorrow.

My main concern is the carb has been sitting for a long time and probably has a lot of dried up crust in it. But, like I said, it seems to run good so far. I am gonna fill the tank tomorrow.

get a weber 32/36..or a weber 34..or even a 38..

im not even gonna mess with rebuilding my stock carb..eff that...lmao

im going with a weber 32/36 that is in almost new condition..and only $200..

it would cost almost $150 to get my carb rebuilt professionally..for $50 more i could have a GREAT improvement in power (to compliment my cam and exhaust, and rebuild) and also get a little better mpg's...even if it needs a rebuild it would be worth it..lol..

good luck on the trip!.take lots of pics..as i LOVE both your rigs..lol!!

P.S. Start praying to the toyota god's now!

Thanks for all the compliments!

I will have to look into the weber carb. Sounds like a good idea.

I would like propane, but I am not looking to spend that much right now.

great little truck there, where did you find the brush guard for that year range, and was it a straight bolt on?

The brush guard was already on it. I just repainted it. It bolts to the front shackle and the bumper I think.

I will be out there this weekend. I plan on getting there friday night and staying till sunday. Should be a good time
